India vs Sri Lanka, Live Cricket Score, Live Streaming, Nidahas Trophy 1st T20I:
At the halfway stage in the chase, Sri Lanka are 101/3. Need 74 runs to win from 60 balls. In comparison, India were 80/2.
Yuzvendra Chahal gets Chandimal with a flat and full delivery to take away the off stump. The full ball drifts in and then skids through to bowl him out. Chandimal undone with his ability to read the length. Chandimal goes for 14, Sri Lanka are 98/3 after 9 overs
Vijay Shankar with an impressive start on his debut. Concedes just 4 runs in the first over. Sri Lanka are 92/2 after 8 overs
8th T20 fifty for Kusal Perera. Brings up his 50 from 22 balls. What a splendid and not to forget a lightning knock this has been. Five fours and three sixes. Second fastest fifty by a Sri Lankan against India
India after powerplay overs: 40/2Sri Lanka after powerplay overs: 75/2
This could make all the difference. Sri Lanka are in command and the difference in starts between the two sides is immense. Needed Perera to try and put a brake on this chase
Jaydev Unadkat strikes and India get the breakthrough they desperately needed. Gunathilaka tries to create room but plays it a touch too early. Offers a simple catch to Pant at mid-off. Gunathilaka goes for 19 from 12 balls. Sri Lanka are 70/2 after 5 overs
After conceding just four runs in five balls for a perfect over after that carnage, Washington Sundar also goes for a six. Gunathilaka sweeps it over square leg. Gorgeous hit! Sri Lanka 56/1 after 4 overs
What a nightmare of an over for Shardul Thakur and Kusal Perera is thundering the ball all around the park. Three consecutive boundaries then a massive six followed by a boundary off a no ball. Full and into the slot once again and it is thumped down the ground for a four. Over ends with nothing to salvage some pride. 27 runs from that over. Sri Lanka have suddenly gone from 19/1 after 2 overs to 46/1 after 3 overs!
On the ninth ball of the chase, Sri Lanka lose Mendis. And who else but Dhawan is involved. Judges and takes the catch after backtracking with ease. Mendis lost control of the bat after trying to power it. No power, timing or direction on it. Washington Sundar strikes. SRI LANKA LOSE FIRST WICKET!
Sri Lanka resume the 175 run chase. Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis open. Unadkat and Sundar share the ball for India
14 runs from the final over and a wicket. But will India be pleased with 174? Especially with Dhawan contribution 90 from about 8 overs. Others not chipping in as much?
Rishabh Pant pulls a short delivery and it is into Pradeep's hands at fine leg. Wicket off the final ball of the innings. INDIA POST 174/5 FROM 20 OVERS
Rishabh Pant joins in too. Another boundary off Chameera. Lovely connection with one outside the off stump.
Dinesh Karthik with consecutive boundaries. Lucky boundary first up as it beats the third man who was squarer than usual. Next one is deliberate but the outcome is another boundary.
Final over of the innings: India 160/4. Rishabh Pant on 18, Dinesh Karthik on 4
AH PITY! Shikhar Dhawan fails to score his first T20 hundred. Gunathilaka strikes and Dhawan misses out on what would have been a well deserved ton. Tossed wide, outside off, Dhawan finds Perera at long off. DHAWAN goes for 90 from 49 balls - six fours and six sixes. INDIA 153/4 AFTER 18 OVER
Shikhar Dhawan becomes the highest India scorer in Sri Lanka in T20s. With 83*, he goes past Kohli (82), Kohli (78*) and Kohli (68). To avoid confusion, its the same Kohli.
Salt on wounds. Dhawan comes down the track, makes a full delivery into a full toss and sends it bang right down the ground for a six. Lovely hit. INDIA ARE 150/3 after 17 OVERS
Chance for the wicketkeeper to send Dhawan back but that is a half hearted attempt. Chandimal got one hand to it instead of going for both as the ball died near him. Chameera has his hands on his head. Dhawan survives at 82 runs
Make that five sixes for Dhawan. It was wide and Dhawan had to go fetching. Gets the top edge and the pace on the ball from Chameera does the rest to take the ball comfortably into the stands.
Fourth six of the inning from Dhawan. This is almost effortless. Full and into the slot for Dhawan who has the spot picked out and gets there once again. INDIA ARE 134/3 AFTER 16 OVERS
HUUUUGE HIT! That is a maximum and it goes bang on to the scoreboard. Short and little on it from Dananjaya and due treatment handed out. Dhawan was on it like a flash and pulls it well, connects superbly to thump it for a six.
Another six in the over. Pant gets into the act now. Picked the spot, creates room and smacks it beyond the boundary line. On a large ground, that is some power. Lifts it over wide long off for a maximum!
India are 124/3 after 15th overs
After 14 overs, India are 109/3 with Shikhar Dhawan dominant. He is up to 59 from 36 balls. New batsman is Rishabh Pant.
Sri Lanka finally get the breakthrough and it is Manish Pandey who falters. Went looking for a boundary off Jeevan Mendis. Doesn't connect properly. Finds the toe end of the bat and it flies comfortably into the hands of Gunathilaka. 94-run stand between Dhawan and Pandey is broken
100 up for India after 12 overs. Dhawan on 56 from 33 balls and Pandey on 34 from 32 balls. The partnership is up to 91 runs
Shikhar Dhawan brings up his half century in style. Comes down the track, Dananjaya tries to get out of it by bowling wide off the off stumps but Dhawan reaches out to smack it for a four. FIFTH T20 FIFTY FOR DHAWAN! 50 from 30 balls
After 3 overs, India were 10/2 and now they're 80/2 after 10 overs. Dhawan on 45 and Pandey on 25.
Dhawan with back-to-back sixes! Lucky runs for Dhawan and India. Back-to-back top edges which go over the keeper's head and for sixes. First one goes straighter while the second is much fine towards square leg. INDIA 71/2 after 9 overs
Manish Pandey with a massive hit and it goes soaring into the stands. This has been beautifully connected by Pandey. Full and in the slot, Pandey went for the slog and is rewarded with a six to his tally. What a hit!
Review for lbw on Dhawan. Jeevan Mendis the bowler. Not a no ball for sure. The only thing that can save him is if it pitched outside leg. Crowd gets a look and their volume goes up. HawkEye yet to come up. Looks like no bat involved even as the third umpire takes multiple looks. No edge but it has pitched outside leg. Sri Lanka lose their review
Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey have ensured that India do not lose any more quick wickets and have combined well to take India to 40/2 after 6 overs. And with the end of powerplay, the fielding restrictions are off.
Nuwan Pradeep has been hit for 17 runs in the over and now India will feel more comfortable in the middle. Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey are looking to settle the side and an expensive over such as this will relieve the pressure after losing two wickets.
Sri Lanka have made their first bowling change in the powerplay overs. It is spinner Akila Dananjaya who is replacing Dushmantha Chameera. Chameera took a wicket and yet he has been immediately replaced. Will Dananjaya justify the move with a wicket?
WICKET! Nuwan Pradeep strikes and Suresh Raina is gone for 1. Slow full toss and Raina missed it completely as the ball went on to hit the stumps. This has been an excellent start for the home side and with no Virat Kohli in the middle, the visitors look to be in trouble. IND 9/2
WICKET! Rohit Sharma is gone for a duck and what a brilliant catch by Jeevan Mendis. Sharma tried to go for a big shot, but mistimed it. Mendis covered a lot of ground to take the catch. IND 1/1
Rohit Sharma out to bat in the middle with Shikhar Dhawan. Sri Lanka have given the new ball to Dushmantha Chameera. The skipper leading from the front.
Both the teams are in the middle and they will start the match with the national anthem. Both the countries pay tributes to their country.
