BSF’s day out with differently abled children
JAISALMER: BSF jawans and officers apart from fulfilling their duty are playing an important role in making the life of people at the border better. Jawans and officers led by 68th battalion commandant Vipin Panti have set an example. It has always been an endeavour and social obligation of BSF to reach out to differently abled people to bring some moments of joy in their life and working on that line 68 Battalion BSF situated in Jaisalmer organised an event for 53 differently abled children.

When one thinks of names like Einstein, Helen Keller, Stephen Hawking and closer home, names like Sudha Chandran, Arunima Sinha (first amputee to scale the Mount Everest), Rajendra Singh Rahelu (polio-stricken and silver medalist in Commonwealth Games 2014), one realises that these are not just disabled people, they are, in fact, people with very special abilities.

Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan which was launched by PM Narendra Modi on December 3, 2015 focuses on designing of disabled-friendly buildings and many other policies for helping them to lead their life like others and 68th battalion Jaisalmer sector South took the step forward by providing the much needed items to the differently abled children of Jaisalmer which was attended by jila pramukh Angana Meghwal, DIG sector south Naresh Kumar, Commandant 68BN Vipin Panthri, and other officers and jawans.

Children with hearing disability were provided hearing aids, those who are unable to walk were given wheelchairs and those needing walking sticks were provided those. Keeping in view the summers, water refrigerators were provided, school uniforms and shoes were also given to each and every child present. Water tanks, water filter for safe and clean drinking water, utensils, other items including carrom boards, diaries, chairs, white board for the school and school bags and stationery items were also provided. The children enjoyed spending their time with the jawans.

BSF officials motivated these children by saying that the hardest thing to overcome is not physical disability but the mental condition. These children proved that they will not only motivate other differently disabled children but also motivate other people of the society.
