A BJP team led by KV Singh Deo on Saturday submitted a memorandum to DGP DR RP Sharma seeking action against Minister Badi Narayan Patra’s son Debashis Patra for ‘resorting to hooliganism’ in Ghasipura Assembly constituency in Keonjhar district for long.

“On February 25, Debashis along with 50 associates attacked Sunil Chakra of Gadabandagoda village. Sunil is now battling for life at the Orthopaedic Department of SCB Medical College Hospital.

Though complaint has been against the accused, the police have not yet taken any action against them and they are moving freely,” alleged the team in the memorandum.

The further informed the DGP that Debashis and his associates attacked Sunil as he alleged corruption against the Minister and tried to immolate self at the Naveen Nivas in protest against unavailability of a under the Pradhan Mantri Awaj Yojana.

The team too informed that though miscreants attacked a contractor named Nilamani Sethi and set afire his JCB at Baripala, police are yet to arrest the goons.

The team demanded that an IPS officer be appointed as SDPO at the Anandpur and two efficient IICs at Ramchandrapur and Ghasipura police stations soon to give justice to people of Ghasipur and nearby areas.

Among others, State vice-president Sameer Mohanty, general Bhrigu Baxipatra and spokesperson Dillip Mohanty were present.
