Reacting sharply to Congress’ charges in connection with the Nirav Modi-PNB fraud, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that a 80:20 gold scheme introduced by the then finance minister P Chidambaram aided jewellers Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi, the prime accused in the Rs 12,000-crore PNB fraud. Addressing the media persons, union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also added that under ‘so-called economist’ prime minister Manmohan Singh, the entire banking system went haywire due to all kinds of interferences with it.
