The Rajya Sabha today congratulated Aruna Budda Reddy on winning a Bronze medal at the Gymnastics World Cup in Melbourne last month. Aruna, in the Women's Vault event, had scripted history by becoming the first Indian gymnast to bag an individual medal at the tournament.
Making a reference in the House, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said, the outstanding accomplishment of Aruna Reddy is a matter of great pride for the entire nation and is indicative of young talented sportspersons exploring new horizons and making remarkable achievements in newer realms of sports.
He hoped that she would serve as a source of inspiration for the youth and budding sportspersons and encourage them to emulate and achieve greater heights in the world of sports.
The Chairman also congratulated Navjot Kaur for winning the Gold and Vinesh Phogat for bagging the Silver in the Asian Wrestling Championships that concluded in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan yesterday.
He also congratulated Bajrang Punia, Vinod Kumar Om Prakash, Rajender Kumar, Harpreet Singh, Sangeeta Phogat and Sakshi Malik for winning the Bronze medals.
