Legendary global hotel chain Atlantis owned by the sovereign wealth fund of Dubai, opened its third property in February, located on Hainan Island in China.
The Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) maintains an important stake in Kerzner International, which owns the Dubai and China Atlantis properties.
Atlantis Sanya, as the resort is known, opened its doors during the Chinese New Year in the month of February, welcoming its first guests.
Located on the Haitang Bay National Coast, Atlantis Sanya is the first Atlantis resort in China, and joins the flagship Atlantis on The Palm in Dubai. The group also currently has hotels under development in Dubai and Hawaii.
Serge Zaalof, chief operating officer at Atlantis Resorts & Residences said that the Atlantis brand is known for unique, ocean-themed destinations offering a wide variety of entertainment experiences and Atlantis Sanya is no exception. The owner, Fosun International, is an incredible partner and together the hotel group has created a resort that offers unparalleled experiences to its guests.
Atlantis Sanya, Dubai includes the 540,000 square meters and is built around the myth of The Lost City of Atlantis and overlooking the South China Sea.
The resort includes Aquaventure Waterpark’s twisting waterslides, exploration of the ancient Atlantis civilisation at The Lost Chambers Aquarium, which spans two floors, alongside the exotic marine creatures that reside there, and a look into the largest open-air aquarium in the world, The Ambassador Lagoon.
