JAIPUR: From giving boost to cultivation of medical plants to setting up new laboratories, the state government will promote ayurveda, unani and homeopathy in a big way.
The state has a big infrastructure of ayurveda with 3,698 centres. The government has recruited 1,718 ayurveda medical officers since 2013.
Land for herbal gardens (land under the ownership of ayurveda department) is available in districts such as Rajsamand, Jodhpur, Churu, Pali, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Nagaur, Bhilwara and Barmer.
The state is rich in cultivation of medicinal plants such as isabgol, saunf, jeera, mehndi, sanaay, neem, gwarpatha, guggulu, ashwagandha and aonla.
With an aim to expand its services, the state government will spent more than Rs 3crore to cultivate medicinal plants on 708 hectares, said health minister
Kalicharan Saraf in the state assembly recently.
Under national AYUSH mission, the government will provide medicines worth Rs 28 crore in 2018-19.
Moreover, the government will fund construction of buildings for ayurveda, unani and homeopathy hospitals.
According to sources, the government will spend Rs 28 crore on construction of hospitals under AYUSH in 2018-19. Besides, Rs 6 crore will be spend in Rajasthan Ayurveda University, Jodhpur, to strengthen facilities for patients.
For Ayurveda University, Udaipur, Rs 24 lakh will be provided for construction activities and Rs 30 lakh for a central pathology lab.
The government has identified four laboratories in for repair and construction work worth Rs 2 crore.
Besides, Rs 10 crore has been provided to construct 63 ayurveda and two unani stores.
