Suspended NFL lineman Aldon Smith is being sought by San Francisco police for allegedly fleeing the scene of a domestic violence complaint.

Smith, 28, hasn't played since being suspended midway through the 2015 season after pleading guilty to an August 2015 DUI and hit-and-run incident.

San Francisco police released a statement Sunday naming Smith as a suspect in a Saturday night incident in San Francisco.

"The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and was identified as professional football player Aldon Smith, a 28-year-old Oakland resident," it read in part, per the San Jose Mercury News.

According to the statement, officers responded to a domestic violence report around 8:30 p.m. local time at a residence on Bush Street in San Francisco.

Smith, who was playing on a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders when he was suspended, re-signed with the Raiders in 2016 but has yet to be cleared to return to the league.

Smith was the seventh overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Missouri. He had a standout rookie year with the 49ers, finishing second to Von Miller in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

He continued his strong play over the next couple years, but was suspended for nine games during the 2014 season for violating the league's substance abuse and personal conduct policy.

After his August 2015 arrest and guilty plea, he was released by the 49ers.
