Mortal remains of noted saint Moni Baba, who passed away in Pune on Saturday, was brought to Monitirath Ashram at Mangalnath in Ujjain last night.
The body was kept in the ashram on Sunday morning for his devotees’ viewing to pay their last respect after which the last rites were performed at Shipra Tat of Ganga ghat on Sunday.
His devotees across the globe in huge number were witnessed at the last rites with tears in eyes. Ripples of grief gripped devotees after saint Moni Baba who remained ‘mum’ in his pious journey of 75 years died at the age of 108 years.
Several devotees were found in deep sense of grievance. Moni Baba was undergoing treatment at Pune where he passed away.
Manas Putra and disciple Sumanbhai Manas Bhushan performed the last rites. Later devotees, followers and dignitaries paid tribute to the saint. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh in his tweet paid tribute to eminent scholar and devoted his life for public welfare Moni Baba.
For his whole life Moni Baba practiced ascetic and rigorous regime which made him popular. His tough practices of strict tenacity, attainments and seclusions brought him respect and name.
Several big names of politics, industrialists and big-wigs of the country were among his devotees. He used to meet his followers twice in a year, one on the occasion.
