Chiocci cops two-match ban for hit on Birch
Collingwood captain Steph Chiocci is set to miss the rest of the AFLW season, after being handed a two match suspension for her hit on Western Bulldog Libby Birch.
The 20-year-old Birch was collected by Chiocci just two minutes into the game on Sunday.
Birch, who had her head over the ball at the time of the hit, was taken from the ground bleeding from her head.
Chiocci was one of five players charged from the spiteful clash between the Pies and the Dogs, and one of seven from the weekend's matches.
Birch herself has been handed a reprimand for striking Collingwood forward Mo Hope, Bulldog Kirsten McLeod can accept a reprimand for tripping Chloe Molloy and both Britt Bonnici (Collingwood) and Emma Kearney (Bulldogs) have also been reprimanded for misconduct against each other.
Sam McClure won the Clinton Grybas rising star award at the AFL media association awards in 2015.
