‘Stern action against errant government officials’

SALIGAO: Revenue minister Rohan Khaunte has assured stern action against errant government servants who fail to do their duties diligently and honestly.
Citizens from different villages across Goa put up their complaints to Khaunte during an interactive session held at the Dev Bodgeshwar hall, Mapusa, last week. Also present were deputy collector-I and SDO, Bardez, Gaurish Shankwalkar, mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas, Mapusa sub-divisional police officer Serafin Dias, Mapusa fire service in-charge Bosco Ferrao, panchayat members from different village panchayats in Bardez, zilla panchayat members and others.

President of the Mapusa Shetkari Sangh Sanjay Barde raised the issue of absent officials from the town and country planning department and questioned the minister about the same.

Nachinola village panchayat member Satish Govekar raised the issue of illegal houses on comunidade land and urged the minister to regularize them.


Sandesh Tilvekar of the Mapusa People’s Union brought up the issue of tenant verification not being undertaken in many villages.


Jawaharlal Shetye, a senior citizen, sought to know if the senior citizens scheme has been implemented.


Khaunte assured the implementation of the right of citizens to time-bound delivery of public services wherein all government-related work will be expeditiously carried out and more transparently.
