BENGALURU: The state
BJP on Sunday said it will not accept the government's move to allow rituals only by the Mujawar (Muslim priest) at the
Guru Dattatreya Bababudangiri (Hindu-Muslim cave shrine) in
Chikkamagaluru, and will move the court against it.
"This is unacceptable," said state BJP general secretary, C T Ravi, while accusing the government of cheating Hindus. "We will question it in a court of law, besides taking the matter to the people."
Ravi said handing over the cave shrine to the muzrai department was not an issue since it was decided in 1980s itself. "The real issue is appointing Hindu priests at the temple and allowing pooja as per Hindu rituals," he said. "Under no circumstances will we accept a Mujawar performing Hindu rituals at the shrine. Will Muslims allow Hindu priests to perform rituals in mosques? How can we accept this?"
The cabinet on Saturday approved the Justice Nagamohan Das committee report on the decades-old dispute. "
Justice Das has Left leanings and the way he acted on the issue of according separate religion status to
Lingayats has made people look at him with suspicion," Ravi alleged.
