NDPP, BJP do the trick in Nagaland

Nationalist Democratic Progressive Alliance (NDPP)  chief Neiphiu Rio will be the new Chief Minister of Nagaland as he along with the BJP staked claim to form the Government. The Government formation is to take place in Nagaland on March 7, Wednesday.

The NDPP staked claim to form the Government with Rio claiming the support of 32 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly.  This was accepted by Nagaland Governor PB Acharya, who said the three-time Chief Minister had majority and should form the Government.

Rio is a three-time former CM and his NDPP  allied with the BJP. While the NDPP won 18 seats, the BJP put up an impressive performance by winning 12 seats. Together with a JD (U) (one seat) and an Independent, the Rio-led coalition has a strength of 32 MLAs in the 60-member House.

“In Meghalaya, a non-Congress Government  led  by NPP-UDP-BJP+ will take oath on March 6. We are in a comfortable position to form the next Government. To be followed by Nagaland and Tripura on 7-8”, tweeted BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday.
