Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices went up by 0.37 per cent 38,475 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March moved up by Rs 140, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 38,475 per kg in business turnover of 35 lots. On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in May contracts gained Rs 119, or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 38,967 per kg in 389 lots. Analysts said expanding of positions by traders in step with a firm trend in global markets attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade. Globally, silver rose 0.36 per cent to USD 16.56 an ounce in Singapore.
