Cop run over by truck in Balangir
In a tragic incident, a police personnel was run over by a speeding truck in the district killing him on the spot on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Mrutyunjay Kuanr, was a constable at the Belgaon outpost under the Saintala police limits.
The incident occurred at around 4.30 am near Gandhi Nagar on NH-26. Kuanr (45) was rammed by the unidentified truck that was going from Balangir to Sambalpur while he was walking on the road. The truck speeded away after the mishap.
After receiving information, police reached the spot and took Kuanr’s body to the Balangir District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. The efforts were on to nab the truck driver.
Reports said that Kuanr, a resident of Satyanarayanpada in the district, was earlier posted as a Balangir traffic policeman. He had recently been transferred to the Belgaon outpost.
