After a short first half, Parliament on Monday reconvenes for the second half of the Budget session. This comes after the recent elections in three North-eastern states — Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

11.20 a.m. | Rajya Sabha


House reconvenes. Slogan shouting continues as Members troop into the Well.

Chairman asks the Members to take their seats. He asks Members to give notice under appropriate rules. But, the Members are mollified and they troop to the Well again, this time carrying placards.

House is adjourned till 2 p.m.

11 a.m. | Rajya Sabha


House is in session. Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu is in the Chair.

A new member — Hishey Lachungpa from Sikkim — is sworn in. Chairman reads out obituary references for former Members Narsingh Narayn Pandey and Faguni Ram.

Mr. Naidu congratulates Aruna Reddy who won a bronze medal in the Gymnastics World Cup. He also congratulates the winners in the Asian Wrestling Championships.

Papers are laid on the table.

Rajya Sabha is adjourned till 11.20 a.m.

11 a.m. | Lok Sabha


House is in session. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan is in the Chair. She reads out obituary references for Rudolph Rodrigues, Kamla Prasad Singh, Khagen Das and Farida Topno.

Lok Sabha is adjourned till noon as slogan shouting begins.
