The Bharatiya Janata Party activists’ attempt to storm the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's official residence in Begumpet here was thwarted by the alert policemen present in large numbers at the place.
The crowd was stopped at the entrance to the Pragathi Bhavan and whisked away in vehicles to Goshamahal stadium.
Four legislators of BJP, including State president K Laxman and MLC N Ramchandra Rao, were confined to their houses on Monday.
Khairtabad legislator C Ramchandra Reddy and around 200 party workers were taken into preventive custody by police in the wake of call give by BJP against Mr. Rao's “disparaging” words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently.
“Around 200 persons including, MLA Ramchandra Reddy and former- legislator Badam Bal Reddy were taken into preventive custody,” said A. Venkateshwara Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone).
Police said that BJP legislators Raja Singh and G. Kishan Reddy were also put on house arrest.
