Goa Carbon slides 3% after anti-pollution directive

Goa Carbon slipped over 3 per cent in morning trade on Monday after the Goa State Pollution Control Board asked the company to suspend operations at its Goa Plant till completion of installation of Air Pollution Control System (APCS).
The scrip was trading 3.43 per cent down at Rs 933 at around 9.55 am (IST). It opened at Rs 966.15 and touched high and low of Rs 945 and Rs 924.85, respectively. Benchmark BSE Sensex dropped 235.27 points, or 0.69 per cent, to 33,811 at around the same time.
“The company had initiated actions for complying and completing all the general and specific conditions as directed under the aforesaid order,” Goa Carbon said in a BSE filing.
The management is looking to complete the final commissioning of the new APCS during March 2018.
Due to customised machine parts requirement, there was a delay in the installation of the system and its further hooking up with the production line, the company added.
The stock had hit 52-week high of Rs 1,215.40 on January 15, 2018, and 52-week low of Rs 103.15 on March 3, 2017.
