The police have arrested two persons in connection with the killing of Rajguru, 47, a teacher at an anganwadi on the Gundumala tea estate in Munnar a year ago. The arrested have been identified as her husband Manikumar , 48, and their son Rajkumar 18. The murder was committed on February 14, 2017, and her body was found in a pool of blood at the anganwadi. The gold worn by her weighing 10 sovereigns were found missing.

Rajkumar, who was under the influence of drugs, hacked her to death and Manikumar helped in concealing the gold, the police said.

The accused abandoned the gold in front of a neighbour’s house a few days ago to divert the inquiry, said Superintendent of Police K.C. Venugopal.

The accused had confessed to the crime, he added.
