Missing boy was found dead on Saturday

Following the murder of a 10-year-old boy in south Delhi’s Jaitpur, the locals staged protest on Sunday against lawlessness and insufficient policing in the area.

Akash Jha had gone missing after school on Wednesday and was found dead near Agra canal on Saturday. Accusing police of inaction, his parents blamed them for his death. The parents and locals gathered at Jaitpur station with his body and protested. “Why didn’t the police take my son’s case seriously? Seniors officers should interrogate the matter and suspend the personnel at fault...,” said Akash’s father Sanjay Jha.

“We think society does not take the lower class into consideration. Had I been a rich businessman, the police would have been on their toes to find Akash but he was son of a vendor,” he said.
