10 sovereigns stolen from locked house

Tirupur: Ten sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 71,000 in cash and a cellphone were stolen from a house at Namo Narayana Nagar, Amaravathipalayam in the city, on Sunday.

The burglars targeted the house when houseowner B Arun, who was running a textile printing unit, left for Sivanmalai Temple to attend a marriage function along with his family on early Sunday morning, police sources said. “When the family returned, they found the back doors broken open. Miscreants had broken three bureaus and stolen 10 sovereigns and a mobile phone along with Rs 71,000 in cash,” a police officer said.


Rural police have registered a case. Further investigation is on. TNN
