Oscars 2018 concluded a few hours ago, and Guillermo del Toro won his first Oscar for his direction of fantasy-romance The Shape of Water. But there are many, many people who have been working in the Hollywood industry for decades and have not yet received an Academy Award. They are actors, actresses, directors who have made significant contributions in cinema but have been overlooked. Fortunately, they have many more years, let us say decades, ahead of them, and hopefully the Academy would recognise their talent.
Kenneth Branagh: Sir Branagh is a complete package. There are few things he cannot do when it comes to filmmaking. He is a great actor, screenwriter, a fine director and also produces films. He has been working in the industry since the early 1980s and is yet to win an Oscar despite five nominations.
Christopher Nolan: Another Brit, Nolan's name has become synonymous with subversive, challenging films. He is a darling of critics and audience alike. His movies are big events in the way Steven Spielberg movies used to be. He was nominated for the first time for Dunkirk in Best Director category this time, but was unfortunately snubbed.
Sigourney Weaver: Known for films like the original Alien, Ghostbusters and Avatar, Sigourney can hold her own against the likes of Meryl Streep. She has been the highlight of many movies she starred in but has not received an Oscar after three nominations.
Sir Ian McKellen: The legendary British actor is most well-known for playing Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and its prequel trilogy The Hobbit. But he has been active in British theatre for almost half a century. It would be an honour for the Academy if it bestows an Oscar on the great man.

Michelle Pfeiffer: She was brilliant as Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. But that is just one of the roles she did. Pfeiffer has played such a variety of roles that it boggles one's mind. Three times nominated for an Oscar, she is yet to get an award.
Michael Keaton: Yes, Keaton does not have an Oscar yet. He has been nominated only once, for his performance in Birdman. Hopefully, this would be remedied in the coming years by the Academy.
Tom Cruise: He is often called *the* action hero of Hollywood having starred in most famously, the Mission: Impossible franchise. We often forget that he is also a brilliant actor. He has three Oscar nominations and it was about time his talent was recognised.
