The issues of bank fraud cases and demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh rocked both the Houses of Parliament today with the opposition forcing their adjournment for the day on the opening day of the second phase of Budget Session.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed brief adjournments in the pre-lunch period. In the Rajya Sabha, when it re-assembled at 2 PM after the second adjournment, Congress members raised the issue of banking fraud cases and trooped into the well demanding the government to bring jeweller Nirav Modi back to India.

Telugu Desam members were demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh while AIADMK and DMK members wanted the setting up of Kaveri Management Board as ordered by Supreme Court.

The leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad charged the government with allowing the people to flee the country after committing bank frauds. Deputy Chairman P J Kurien tried in vain to pacify the agitating members and assured them that he is ready to allow the House to take up the discussion on fraud in Public Sector Banks.

He later adjourned the House for the day as noisy scenes continued with members displaying placards in support of their demands.

The Lok Sabha witnessed similar noisy scenes before adjourning finally for the day. Earlier, it was adjourned till noon amid uproar by opposition members.

Members belonging to Congress, TMC and Left parties demanded discussion on bank fraud cases related to the jeweller Nirav Modi and others. YSR Congress and TDP members shouted slogans demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

TRS Members were demanding more than 50 per cent reservation in jobs in Telangana.
