Last year British Columbia witnessed major boom in tourism

British ColumbiaPeople across the globe carry on choosing British Columbia as one of their ideal destination in terms of business and leisure travel.

 
As per the recent numbers released by Statistics Canada, three percent rise in visitor arrivals related to December 2017 over the same month in 2016, welcoming around 11,869 additional visitors to British Columbia. In the whole, in 2017, over 5.7 million overnight visitors came to the province, a rise of 3.3%, or 181,700 visitors, over the year of 2016.

 
The increase in 2017 has been resulted due to many factors, comprising increased access to British Columbia from numerous significant overseas markets, like Germany, Australia, Mexico, China and France. Rise in air traffic to Vancouver impacts the verve of the tourism sector, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture reported lately.

 
Destination BC, the tourism marketing agency of the government, works in collaboration with tourism stakeholders all through the province to market British Columbia as a world-class tourist destination.

 
The growth for December 2017 (over December 2016) includes:

 
* France – up 42.9%
*South Korea – up 21.3%
*Japan – up 26.2%
* Australia – up 15.7%
* China – up 14.5%
* Germany – up 14.4%

 

* United States (excluding same-day visitors) – up 1.9%
* Asia/Pacific – up 8.9%
* Europe – up 5.3%
