Need to portray Heroes on worldwide screen
Chandigarh: “There is an utter need to portray unsung heroes of Punjab like Banda Singh Bahadar on screen worldwide so that diaspora across the world kept motivated,” said Rana KP Singh, Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha while having a meeting with the crew of Indo-American venture ‘Barefoot Warriors’ which is all set to leave for US after their month long shoot in Punjab. Present on the occasion Producer Jatiner Minhas and Director Kaviraj agreed to speaker’s viewpoint and said great stalwart like Banda Singh Bahadar and Hari Singh Nalwa has been totally neglected by the society and history, hence they too, are keen to make them as subject in their upcoming ventures. ‘Barefoot Warrior’ is true story based on the Indian national football team which gave a tough fight to France in 1948 Olympics but rejected by FIFA, football govering body to participate in 1952 World Cup because Indian players used to play football barefooted.
Haryana traissue directions
Chandigarh: Haryana Transport Department has directed all the heavy vehicle drivers selected by Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) to report with their complete documents on March 5 from 10 am to 5 pm at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector-5, Panchkula for joining. A spokesman said that the drivers must also bring their admission card issued by HSSC, two passport size photographs and their aadhar card. The HSSC had declared the result of selected candidates on March 3.
Training programme organised on ECBC
Chandigarh: A two-day training programme on Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) Simulation concluded at CII Northern Region HQ in Sector 31 here. Balkar Singh, AGM, PEDA emphasised on the smooth implementation of Punjab ECBC which will ensure construction of energy efficient buildings resulting reduction in electrical demand by 30-40 per cent in the buildings. He said, with about many commercial buildings yet to be built, there is huge potential of energy consumption.Others who spoke on the occasion included Sapna, Chief Architect Punjab, Amandeep Kaur Nijjer, Senior Town Planner, Department of Town & Country Planning, Sunil Kansal, Chief Engineer, GMADA, Gaurav Shorey, ECBC Master Trainer and Money Khanna.
BSNL launches ‘Holi Dhamaka’ plan
Chandigarh: State-run telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new unlimited calling plan to any network with 30 GB data per month at Rs 399 under postpaid mobile services. Plan-399 gives unlimited voice (local/STD) any network with free roaming and free 30 GB data at Rs 399 per month. The plan is effective from March 1 on PAN India basis, said SK Gupta, CGMT Punjab circle.
