Apparently annoyed with some media reports targeting the Government and top officials of the State, Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday questioned the credibility of such reports and said that immediate action will be taken if reports with substantial facts were brought to his notice. Talking to the media persons at State BJP Headquarters in Ranchi, Das said that Government was working in a transparent manner with firm policies and not personal decisions.
“If reports are put before me backed with substantial facts, immediate action will be taken within 24 minutes. You must criticize the Government as I am not scared of criticism,” said the CM. He, however, said that the recent controversies related to top Government Officials were created by the media.
The CM informed that a report has already been sent to the Election Commission regarding ADG (Special Branch) Anurag Gupta and then CM’s Political Advisor Ajay Kumar, presently Press Advisor in the case related to Rajya Sabha elections 2016. He also appealed to the media persons not to publish reports on the basis of misleading facts.
Notably, the EC took cognizance on alleged interference in the exercise of electoral rights of some of the electors during Rajya Sabha Elections 2016 on the basis of complaints filed by JVM President Babulal Marandi with CDs of purported phone calls of ADG Anurag Gupta and the then Press Advisor of Chief Minister Raghubar Das Ajay Kumar. The Election Commission had also asked the State Government to take action against the two for the horse-trading during 2016 Rajya Sabha polls and keep it informed about it.
When asked about his take on ‘Patthalgadi,’ the Chief Minister said that the issue is not about ‘Patthalgadi’ but the issue is related to the illegal farming of opium in 100 acres of land which is being protected by a handful of people for their personal gains.
“People living in the areas where ‘Patthalgadi’ has already been done must be asked how many of them got benefitted of it,” said the CM. It cannot be tolerated at any cost, he added.
Talking about BJP’s campaign to strengthen its mass base to beat the support enjoyed by the political parties with their names starting with Jharkhand, Das said that the tribal population in Jharkhand and other States has now
CM promises swift action on issues with ‘facts’ understood clearly that they were fooled for the last 67 years and which party thinks for their welfare.
“They have also become alert and victory of 20 ST seats in Tripura is a true example of it,” said the CM.
Earlier, talking about the historic victory of the party in North East States, Das said that politics in the country was going through a big change with the BJPs historic performance in the Assembly Elections of the Northeastern states.
“People have expressed faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is a happy moment for the country as the people showed their hunger for development,” said the CM.
Congratulating people of the North East for voting in favour of development, Das said that in 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked about development of two wings (East and West) of the country and these election results have proved that people wanted development.
‘Mahatma Gandhi wanted to dismantle Congress Party after independence; with the results of North-East it appears that his dream would be fulfilled very soon,” Das said. There are only 2 or 3 states left which would witness the same results paving way for a ‘Congress-Mukt’ Country, he added.
