Indian Youth Congress (IYC) activists today staged a protest demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond to allegations on the Rafale deal. The protest led by IYC chief Amrinder Singh Raja began from the IYC headquarters on Raisina Road.
The activists, however, were stopped by police while marching towards the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). "PM Modi needs to answer to the nation as to why no action is being taken against these continuous scams occurring in the country," he said. The Youth Congress demands to know the details of the Rafale deal as taxpayers' money is at stake, said an IYC statement. The Congress has been ramping up attack on the government over the Rafale issue, claiming that the deal for the French fighter jets negotiated under its rule was much cheaper than the contract signed by the Modi government. Under the deal, the Centre will procure 36 Rafale fighter jets from France at a cost of Rs 58,000 crore.
