Palanpur: Police booked a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping his 13-year-old cousin sister in Udela village of Mehsana’s Becharaji taluka.
The girl was rushed to the Mehsana Civil Hospital on Sunday after she started bleeding profusely, said PS Gadhvi, circle police inspector, Santhal police station.
It is alleged that the girl was raped several times for the last one-and-a-half-month by the accused Pappu Devipujak. “The girl’s relatives were unwilling to lodge the complaint but it was at the insistence of the doctor that her mother got her statement recorded,” said police.
Pappu, who lives in Andheri suburb of Mumbai had come to Udela, to attend a condolence meet of his uncle. The girl lived next door and she was allegedly raped on February 28.
“We are awaiting the medical report to decide on further action,” said Gadhvi.
“At present we are on a look out for Pappu who is on a run. A team has been dispatched to Mumbai where he sells old clothes on the footpath. We have also sent the police teams at other places of his possible presence,” he said.
Devipujak was booked for rape and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
