3 drug peddlers held in city

Press Trust of India  |  Kolkata

The Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths have arrested three alleged drug peddlers after seizing contraband drugs from a flat in the city's posh Alipore area, a senior NCB official said today. Of the three, one is a restaurant owner and the other two are management students. A team of NCB sleuths conducted a raid at a residence in the posh Alipore area late last night and seized three types of drugs from the possession of one Vivek Sharma, NCB Zonal Director Srivastava said. The NCB seized 2.49 gm of Magic Mushroom, nine Ecstasy pills and 20 blots of LSD from his possession, he said. "After questioning him, we arrested two others -- Rishab Sharma and Deep Chakraborty -- from different areas for their alleged involvement in a drug peddling racket," Srivastava told PTI. Deep, he said, has been into drug peddling for a long time and was also running a popular restaurant in the city. Initial probe revealed that they used to purchase drugs via Darknet using crypto-currency, he said. Darknet is any overlay network that can be accessed only with specific software or configurations often using non-standard communication protocols and ports. "We are trying to find out who else are involved in the racket.

We have got some tip-off," Srivastava said.
