YSR Congress Party President Y.
S. Jagan Mohan Reddy flagged-off the party's protest march at Shivarampuram village in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasham district.
The group is to demand Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy, along with the distressed Andhrites, will hold a dharna in Parliament Street on March 5 from 7:00 a.m onwards, the day Parliament restarts the budget session.
More than 1,000 people from the state have left on a special train from Vijayawada on March 2 to Delhi for participating in the protest.
Many more will also join from other metro cities.
Natives in Delhi and students from IIT Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Delhi University (DU) who belong to Andhra Pradesh will participate in the protest.
The decision to grant SCS was announced in the Parliament and endorsed by opposition parties, including BJP in 2014.
SCS was announced in lieu of foregoing Hyderabad, which houses employment generating industries, and such a precious clause should not be foregone for some insignificant package.
