
The Bharatiya Janata Party's winning streak has created unlikeliest of allies among the opposition parties. Known for their animosity, Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party are expected to join hands today ahead of Gorakhpur Lok Sabha bypolls, sources have told India TV.
They said that BSP's local unit will hold a meeting 11 am to decide on supporting SP's candidate Engineer Praveen Nishad for Gorakhpur Lok Sabha bypolls, to be held on March 11.
If the party decides in affirmative, the decision will be announced by noon.
A traditional BJP bastion, Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency is facing bye-elections after Yogi Adityanath resigned to take on the duty as the chief minister of the state.
Similarly, Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency is also going witness bypolls as Kehsav Prasad Maurya resigned to become deputy CM of the state.
The voting to the Lok Sabha bypolls in Gorakhpur and Phulpur will be held on March 11 and the results will be declared on March 14.
