The ASA claim scooter riding is the fastest growing action sport in the world and Barber - who landed a backflip on Saturday - said he wants to become an Olympian one day.

"With more and more people getting into it I think it will be in the Olympics or X-Games one day but I'm just stoked to be the first ACT champion," Barber said.

"You can get paid well being sponsored by a major company and the pro athletes are competing for $10,000 at nationals next month."

Freimanis had sponsors but has since gone solo so he can just "have fun" with the sport.

"I decided to part ways with all my sponsors and ride solo for the fun of it. If you're sponsored you have to compete all the time and post on social media and it was just too much," Freimanis

"It was great to win though a bit different because I always have to travel to Sydney to compete, so it was good to have it at home and take out the win."
