The police raided two restaurants that were operating hookah lounges on their premises on Halls Road and Millers Road, and arrested the managers.

As part of crime prevention measures, police teams have been engaged in apprehending those selling banned products such as pan masala and gutkha.

The crackdown began after they received complaints that hookah lounges in the city were luring minors.

Police teams raided Shivaya Restaurant on Miller’s Road and Robusta Restaurant on Halls Road.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Rajendran said special teams raided the premises, which were serving hookah and two managers were arrested.

The arrested persons were released immediately since the offence is a bailable one.

The police seized pan masala products, pipes and other materials from the restaurants.
