Northeast election results: BJP's performance historic, says Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday termed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s electoral performance in three north-eastern states as historic. Hailing the BJP’s victory in Tripura Assembly poll, Yogi credited the ‘lotus bloom’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies vis-a-vis the northeast and party president Amit Shah.

“The BJP is all set for a historic win in Tripura. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured the implementation of policies tailor-made for north-eastern states. Union ministers were given the task to ensure that these policies reflected on the ground as well,’’ said the Chief Minister in Lucknow on Saturday.

“I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah Ji and our party workers. Even our performances in Nagaland and Meghalaya have been historic. It is an important day in Indian politics,” the CM added.

“Electoral management of BJP president Amit Shah also paid rich dividends,” said Yogi, who was one of BJP’s ‘star campaigners’ in northeast elections and addressed seven rallies in the run-up to the elections.

The BJP has made significant gains in both Tripura and Nagaland and is on course to register wins there along with its alliance partners.

State BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey said, “It is a big achievement for the party before 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Now, north eastern  states too will witness a new phase of development. The people of north eastern states have given a befitting reply to parties, who used them as vote bank and did nothing for them.’’

“The win in north-eastern states proves that the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah has grown and reached far-flung areas,” said the state BJP president.
