Mumbai qualifies for the second leg

MUMBAI: Mumbai Movers had to stay content with an 8-8 draw against Riga Magicians in the 8 th round which got over early Thursday morning but have ensured that they move to the next leg of the World Pro-Chess league from the Eastern Division with around to spare. 

Armenia Eagles, Delhi Dynamites, and Mumbai Movers are jointly at the top of the points tally with 5.5 points each but the teams are placed in respective order-courtesy game points tie-break scores. One more round will be played on March 7 but these 3 teams from Eastern Division had already stormed into the second leg which will be played on a knock-out basis.

Mumbai Movers had begun the event in style much to the delight of owner Rishi Gupta and had been enjoying sole leader status before yesterday’s round. 

In the last round they take on the strong Armenian Eagles. However a good showing in the initial rounds makes the last round result redundant.

Mumbai Movers started disastrously with a shocking 4-0 defeat against Riga Magicians and the supporters were shell shocked.
