Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot today said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's statement on the BJP's win in the assembly elections in the northeast was an unsuccessful attempt to ward attention off the party's defeat in the bypolls. Pilot said the chief minister had distanced herself from the media after losing in the bypolls held in January (on two Lok Sabha and one assembly constituencies) but her comments on the BJP's performance in the northeast clearly showed that she was unsuccessfully trying to divert attention from the defeat. He said the BJP had in the last four years worked against the interests of the people, and was left with no time now to rectify their mistakes and bring about change.
The Pradesh Congress Committee chief also accused the government of institutionalising corruption in the state. Pilot said the Congress would win the upcoming assembly elections and form the government in the state. Earlier in the day, Raje, while speaking at the BJP office here, had exuded confidence of winning the assembly elections due later this year.
