A tehsildar and a revenue clerk posted in Sitapur district were suspended on the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on graft charges, a state government spokesperson said today. The action was taken in response to a video showing the two men -- Sanjay Gupta and Subhash Mani Tripathi -- accepting bribe.
The video was aired on some news channels on March 3, the spokesperson said. Both the tehsildar and clerk were suspended with immediate effect, and disciplinary action was taken against both of them. Instructions have also been issued to register an FIR against the clerk, the spokesperson said. Special censure entry (Vishesh Parininda Pravishti) has been made against the then sub-divisional magistrate of Sidhauli, Prem Prakash, for laxity, he said.
