Nagpur: The transport department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Saturday introduced city bus service from Devlameti (Mhada Colony) to Sitabuldi. The move is aimed at helping people travelling to localities on city’s outskirts for work.

Hingna’s MLA Sameer Meghe flagged off the bus service in the presence of village sarpanch Anand Tapnichor, deputy sarpanch Gajanan Ramekar, NMC’s transport committee chairman Bunty Kukde and transport manager Shivaji Jagtap.

The bus to be operated on this route will make four trips from 8am to 5pm. The first bus will leave Mhada Colony at 8am, thereafter at 12.30pm, 3pm and 5pm.

Kukde said such bus services will be increased on new routes based on patronage and revenue.

“The move has brought cheer on the face of many commuters, especially students and office goers, of the localities concerned. The residents of Devlameti situated on Amravati Road had to travel two kilometres on foot to catch a bus,” said Kukde.
