Mercedes-AMG GT4 – Is This It?

Mercedes-AMG continues to tease the upcoming GT4, but the car appears to have finally leaked.

The low-resolution picture, brought to our attention by a CarScoops reader, reveals the obvious: a Panamericana grille at the front, muscular lines all around, a sloping roofline, and a rear wing.

Its stylish design, meant to differentiate it from the new generation CLS and serve as a more upscale replacement for the old AMG CLS 63, is wrapped in a four-door coupe body style.

When it finally goes on sale, likely later this year, it will challenge the upcoming BMW M8 Gran Coupe, which is said to be previewed by a concept in Geneva. It will also go up against the anticipated Audi RS7 Sportback, and the Porsche Panamera as well.

Despite the numerous spy shots and reports surrounding the new Mercedes-AMG GT4, we still don’t know exactly what powers it.

Some speak about the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which makes up to 603 horsepower in the new AMG E63 S, while others believe that it will get an electric motor as well, just like the AMG GT study shown last year.

If the latter scenario turns out to be true, then the executive four-door coupe will probably have in excess than 800 horsepower. Moreover, such a model would challenge the likes of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which has ‘only‘ 671hp available on tap.

The German automaker will answer most questions at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, next week, when the AMG GT4 will be presented.

In my opinion this is what the new CLS should have looked like. Looks great!

Took the words out of my mouth. In fact I believe this was the new CLS that was given to AMG because whatever this car could have been and the CLS could not exist on the same showroom floor without stealing sales from each other. So fast-forward the new CLS is just a larger CLA, which that car was a smaller CLS…???
