A United Airlines New York (Newark)-New Delhi flight with 266 passengers on board was diverted to London's Heathrow airport because of a medical issue on board, the news agency ANI reported late Sunday evening.
The airline did not make any immediate comment on the diversion on its official Twitter account. A quick Google search reveals that a United Airlines flight, UA 82, was scheduled to land in Delhi Monday night at 9:30 pm.
However, ANI's report does not confirm that this is the same airline that was diverted to London.
Flight Radar, a verified Twitter accout that helps social media users track air traffic, confirm that the aircraft was indeed UA 82.
"3 hours after the sharp turn over the North Sea, flight #UA82 landed safely at Heathrow Airport. Reason why Heathrow was selected as diversion airport can be crew or maintenance availability, and better possibilities to handle passengers.," Flight Radar said.
