Two railway staff awarded for exceptional devotion towards duty
Two railway staff namely Ritesh Kumar, Track Maintainer, Bhotpatti and Nanda Kishore, Station Master, Altagram were awarded by Rajiv Rajvanshi, Principal Chief Engineer, NF Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty. On January 12, 2018 Ritesh Kumar, Track Maintainer of Bhotpatti station working under Sr Section Engineer/P-Way/Domohani, under Alipurduar Division, while performing duty as Gateman at Level Crossing gate no. NJ-9 between Maynaguri Road - New Changrabandha noticed wheel of wagon no - WRBCN 993205 of Up food grain was red. He immediately informed Station Master of New Changrabandha. The train was controlled at New Changrabandha. After checking by Loco Pilot & Guard the wagon no-WRBCN 993205 was detected Hot Axle and detached at New Changrabandha. Thus, a probable mishap was averted. In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of `2, 000 alongwith a certificate by General Manager, NF Railway. Nanda Kishore, Station Master of Altagram station under Alipurduar Division, while performing duty on January 6, 2017 noticed smoke coming out from wheel of 15636 Dn during through passing over Altagram station. He immediately reported the matter to Station Master of Betgara station and Divisional control.
SAIL Chairman exhorts for rapid ramping up during production review
Reviewing the performance for the month of February,2018, Chairman of SAIL PK Singh emphasized on winding up the few remaining projects under modernization and ramping up production from the new units. SAIL is in the final leg of completing the modernization and expansion where only few downstream facilities at SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plantare under completion. The new mills at Company’s other plant locations are being rapidly ramped up and stabilized for harnessing the entire potential of these facilities. SAIL produced 1.272 MT of crude steel in the month of February 2018 which is 9 per cent higher than CPLY. In this series of performance review, Singh recently visited SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant and exhorted the collective to perform to their utmost potential. During this, he also visited the recently commissioned blast furnace no. 8 - Mahamaya, Universal Rail Mill and the Steel Melting Shop III. The new BF is under stabilization and production from it is steadily being ramped up. BF No 8, Mahamaya, has produced more than 60,000 tonnes of hot metal since it was blown on 2nd February. Singh inspired the collective for a stronger and spectacular performance after the Company returned to profits.
