Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Indian Forest Service Officer S Manikandan who lost his life while on duty at the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve under tragic circumstances when he was attacked by a wild tusker. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the country will remember him for his rich service and passion towards wildlife and forest conservation. The Prime Minister said, his thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of Mr Manikandan. Minister for Environment and Forests Dr Harsh Vardhan said, Mr Manikandan has shown commitment to work by sacrificing his life and his untimely death is a terrible loss. The Officer was from 2001 batch of Indian Forest Service and was posted as Conservator of Forests and Director of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in Karnataka.
