In Tripura, state BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb has said that the newly elected members of the Party and its ally IPFT will meet on Tuesday to elect the legislative leader on the way to form the new government. After getting a historic victory yesterday in the assembly elections, preparations to form the government have gained momentum. For the purpose, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Jual Oram have been appointed as observers to decide over the first BJP Chief Minister of Tripura. Meanwhile, Governor Tathagata Roy has accepted the resignation letter from Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and asked him to continue as the Chief Minister till the new government is formed. AIR correspondent reports that BJP sources said its two central ministers Nitin Gadkari and Jual Oram will hold meeting soon with the newly elected legislators of the party and its ally IPFT to finalize the name of Chief Minister of the new government. After meeting with elected and core committee members, they will submit their report to the BJP parliamentary board for final announcement of the name of Chief Minister. Party sources said there are few candidates which are in the frontline for the Chief Ministerial post. Top of the list is BJP State President Biplab Kumar Deb, followed by Kumar Jishnu Debbarman, Dr. Atul Debbarma and Ramapada Jamatia. This time, BJP-IPFT alliance has won 17 seats out of 19 ST reserved seats. On the other side, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar met Governor Tathagata Roy in Raj Bhawan this morning and tendered his resignation from the post of chief minister. The governor accepted his resignation but asked him to continue till a new government is formed.
