All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday welcomed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s call for a third front and said that such a move is the need of the hour.
Addressing the media at party headquarters in Darussalaam and describing the CM as a man with political farsightedness and sagacity, Mr. Owaisi said an attempt to stitch an alliance sans the BJP and Congress will have a far-reaching implications on national politics.
“I feel that Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao can be a pivot against the Congress and the BJP especially when there us a vacuum in country and people are looking for an alternative. Also people know well that Congress is not able to match up to machinery and politics of the BJP,” Mr. Owaisi said. He added that at a time when the country is vexed with the BJP, the Congress cannot be a viable alternative.
The Hyderabad Parliamentarian said that regional parties will play a crucial role in the next General Elections. “It will be the regional parties that will play an important role in government formation. because the national parties, whether the Congress of the BJP, they have failed to live up to expectations of their promises,” he said.
The country, the MIM chief said, is looking towards regional parties which are not with the Congress or the BJP.
Showering praise on the CM, Mr. Owaisi acknowledged that his party in the past had opposed Mr. Rao but added that he had proved all ‘pessimists’ wrong by delivering ‘fantastic governance’. He described Telangana as a ‘progressive’ and ‘number one’ State.
