Three persons have been arrested and Charas seized worth Rs. 31 lakhs from their possession, the city police said. Of three, two are from J&K.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Makarand Ranade said that acting on a tip off, the police kept a vigil on the road leads to Kausa at Mumbra district on Wednesday. Accused were arrested, Charas and cash of Rs 1 lakh seized from them.
They are identified as Sajid Hasan Khan Moosa (38) Mumbra.
Abdul Samad Abdul Raza Gujali (55) and Mohammad Makbul Mukta Bhat (55) both are from J&K.
The trio were produced before a magistrate and remanded to police custody till March 5, the police said.
DCP Crime Abishek Trimukhi told newsmen that the police in that area is now trying to find out as to whom they had come to sell off the Charas.
According to the police the first accused Sajid was doing the trade along with one of his relatives Arif Sayyed, who was arrested in connection with smuggling of Charas and was jailed for three years, is out now after serving the terms and both together are involved in this trade. Bhat was earlier arrested by the Worli police in Mumbai for smuggling of Charas, the police added.
