One killed as train rams into truck in UP

One person was killed and two others injured when a train rammed into a truck on an unmanned railway crossing in Uttar Pradesh's district on Saturday, police said.

The accident took place at the Partapur railway crossing in Pilakhua when a railway employee posted at the crossing apparently forgot to bolt the gates, the police said.

The truck passed through the gates unaware of the approaching DMU train which was going from to for maintenance. The train hit the truck.

Police had a tough time rescuing both the drivers of the train and the truck, who were trapped in the mangled up vehicles. A crane, JCB and were used to pull out the injured.

The deceased was one of the two drivers of the while the truck driver, who was critically wounded, was rushed to a nearby medical facility.
