You have the right to meet anyone you choose to. Having said that, you should try and find out why your husband feels the way he does and fix that perception if possible.
I wanted to marry someone like me, with the same values, homely attitude and morals, and believed I had found the person a few months ago. She was the daughter of a family friend and I got along with her very well. It was arranged and we decided to make things official. Soon after our families announced a formal engagement, she began to change. She was no longer the person I had met and I began to realise, slowly, that the whole thing had been an act because she just wanted to be a part of my family. I don't know if this is because we have a lot of property and I am the only son, but there could be a very strong reason. I am heartbroken by this change and I don't know what to tell my parents. This girl has fooled them completely and they will think I have ruined it if I ask them to call off the wedding. What can I do?
You can't possibly consider spending the rest of your life with someone you clearly don't love, trust or respect. Your parents won't compel you to be with someone you're not comfortable with if you are honest with them and tell them how and why you feel the way you do. They are on your side. Look at what has happened as fortunate, because you could easily have arrived at these conclusions after marriage, rather than before. Nothing is lost and the breaking of an engagement isn't the end of the world. It happens more often than you think.
