A 300th Premier League win at Anfield completed with ease by the Reds, who go into second in the top flight above Manchester United.

They were made to work by Newcastle, who held firm until Mohamed Salah opened the scoring. Sadio Mane secured the win with the second in a half which was very stop-start and disrupted by a host of substitutions.

Graham Scott again says no penalty as Salah went clear and was taken out by Lascelles. He looked towards his assistant on the far side who said no. The contact was outside the box but it was certainly a foul and a red card for the Newcastle captain.

Paul Dummett saves Newcastle from surely conceding a second, as he denied Salah the space to cut inside in the box and Liverpool win the corner.
