Residents seek an opening in the median for safe movement of pedestrians

During the morning rush hour, children jump over the median on 100 Feet Road in Ashok Nagar, sometimes along with their parents. It has become such a common sight that it does not evoke a sense of horror anymore.

This problem is acute near the CMRL pillar number 146.

Most of these children are students of a school on 86th Street in Ashok Nagar.

This problem mainly affects those coming from neighbourhoods located along the eastern side of 100 Feet Road.

A. Jainulabdeen, a resident of Ashok Nagar, says, “Having a small opening in the median near the pillar, similar to the one near Prabha TVS showroom, also on 100 Feet Road, will be of immense help.”

Residents point to a similar situation. They believe an opening in another section of the median on 100 Feet Road could have been created to ensure safe access to a school in First Avenue, Ashok Nagar.

A parent S. Rama Devi says, “During rush hours, when there is heavy traffic it is difficult to walk on 100 Feet Road. If an opening is created near CMRL pillar 146, we could cross the road and it will save around 15 minutes.”
