Northeast Assembly Elections 2018
BJP supporters wave party flag to celebrate BJP's win, which brought down 25 years of CPI-M government rule, after Tripura Assembly election results were announced in Agartala

BJP-IPFT alliance wins two-third majority in 60-member Tripura Assembly. BJP wins 32 and IPFT 8 seats: EC People of Northeast had a sense of alienation, our govt worked overtime to remove it: Narendra Modi in address to BJP workers A neck and neck fight is on in Nagaland where the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) has bagged 21 seats so far and the NDPP-BJP alliance captured 19 constituencies. Results of 42 seats of the 60-member House have been declared so far. The NFP, which has been in power in the state since 2003 except for a three-month-long break during the President's Rule in 2008, is ahead in four seats. The historic victory in Tripura is as much an ideological one. It is a win for democracy over brute force and intimidation. Today peace and non-violence has prevailed over fear. We will provide Tripura the good government that the state deserves. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 3, 2018 Time and again, election after election, the people of India are reposing their faith in the positive and development oriented agenda of the NDA. People do not have the time or respect for negative, disruptive and disconnected politics of any kind. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 3, 2018 The North East has today come forward to lead India on the path to development: PM

Northeast Assembly Election Results 2018: The counting of votes is underway on Saturday for Tripura assembly election results 2018, and Meghalaya assembly election results 2018, respectively.

Putting up a spectacular show, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), were headed for a landslide electoral victory in Tripura assembly elections, ousting the CPI-M-lead Left Front that was in power in the state for the last 25 years. State President Biplab Kumar Deb is likely to be the chief minister.

Even in Nagaland assembly elections, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), which has an alliance with BJP, is giving tough competition to ruling party Naga People's Front (NPF). If NDPP fails to reach the half-way mark, BJP may have an "understanding" with the ruling NPF to form a new government of the three parties in the state.

Congress’ only hope to consolidate its position seems to be Meghalaya assembly elections as it close to reaching the half-way mark.

Polling was held for 59 of 60 Assembly seats in each of the three states for different reasons. Tripura were held on February 18. A party requires 31 seats to win.
